The Free
Introducing The Free: an upscale party band that blends modern style and rootsy charm. The Free hail from the South but are not a Southern rock band, a distinction that becomes obvious as soon as the band takes the stage. They keep up with the latest from Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift, effortlessly transition to musical comfort food from artists like Mumford & Sons, Tom Petty and Johnny Cash, and perform their show with a stylish, youthful energy and a homespun flair all their own.
Begun in 2014 by the creators of the A-Town A-List, The Free maintains A-Town’s standard of excellence in every facet of an event. Onstage, the band is renowned as a versatile, party-rocking live juggernaut. They don’t miss a beat when preparing, either: an experienced team handles questions from clients and locks in event logistics in the months leading up to an event.
Equally comfortable in a Ritz-Carlton as in a rustic winery setting, The Free is able to fit in at any manner of special event and tailors each show to meet client needs. The band often performs acoustic-style cocktail or dinner sets featuring bluegrass, acoustic Americana and jazz before engaging the dance floor with high-energy sets that pull from the best of rock'n'roll, modern pop hits, country favorites and classic R&B. The band possesses the chops to tackle this ambitious blend of genres: their two lead vocalists make the variety feel natural, and the band backing them is both virtuosic and funky.

We offer bands for nearly every budget, starting around $2,000 and going up to $15,000+. Most dance bands range between $3,500 and $8,500.
Bands bring instruments and sound equipment for most weddings and events, covering up to several hundred guests. For larger events, additional sound support can be arranged for a fee or through a vendor you provide.
All bands provide basic lighting for their performance area, but this isn’t decor lighting for the whole space. Light stands typically feature a few white or colored LED or par cans. Some bands can adjust lighting to fit the event, or they can skip it if you’re working with a separate lighting vendor.
Special event bands charge a single fee for up to a 4-hour block, including breaks. They’ll play a preset playlist during breaks, scheduled around natural pauses like speeches or cake cutting. For a 4-hour event, bands need at least 45 minutes of break time, usually split into two 20-25 minute breaks. Some bands offer a three-hour no-break option and can add overtime for an extra fee.
Spring and fall Saturday events often book a year or more in advance, with popular dates typically securing bands 8-15 months ahead. Non-Saturday events book closer to the date, and we often help clients with shorter timelines (2-6 months) find great bands. Booking early increases your options for in-demand bands, so reach out soon!
