Dance Candy was awesome! All the musicians were really proficient and clearly had legit jazz chops. We elected to add on saxophone and trombone and the horns definitely made it all the better. They kept the energy high throughout and our guests loved it.
My dad and I actually joined them on stage and let us use their instruments (my dad on keys, me on guitar) for two songs. One of those songs wasn't on their song list but they were good to roll with it regardless. They were super welcoming of us and enthusiastic about the whole thing.
I spoke with Von McGee several times ahead of the wedding to go over details, songs, my dad and I playing, etc. and he was a pleasure to work with.

Going into this, we had certain expectations on the value and energy a live band would add to the atmosphere. I am happy to share that Dance Candy exceeded even our bestcase scenario! The event was extremely wellreceived, and the band had the dance floor packed until the very end.
This event (Barrister's Ball) is something we host annually, and one of the attendees expressed that this was the best Barrister's Ball she'd experienced in 15 years of attending. I like to think that Dance Candy played a large part in that.

Thanks for reaching out and we'd love to provide some feedback on working with Dance Candy.

Simply put, they were phenomenal. We had a slightly unusual wedding, with the band needing to play some quieter dinnertime music to start, then kicking off the full dance party later in the evening. We also fit in several quirky things at specific times because my wife is Danish and brought with her many different traditions.

Mark and the band were perfectly flexible, cutting their sets short when we needed some extra time for toasts / speeches, and extending in other places when it made sense with the rest of the evening's planned activities.

Regarding music selection, Dance Candy truly understood our taste and sensibilities, from only a short list of do and don't play artists and songs. The dinnertime music was a set of really nice jazzfocused tunes, and the dancing sections of the evening were a great balance of classic funk and groovy pop from the 80s to today. The dance floor was never empty, and our guests couldn't stop commenting on how great the band was.

So bottom line: We can't recommend Dance Candy enough to fans of dancing, the best of oldschool and newschool music, and an overall great time.

We'll see what we can do on The Knot, as I don't think we have an account or anything, but I would be happy to put in a good word wherever we can.

Taylor may have already responded, although she's been swamped since the wedding.
Dance Candy was awesome! Everyone said what a great band! The dancing started immediately and continued all night. I wanted to hang out with the band more, just because I liked them so muchpersonally as well as musically.
And you may or may not have heard, but I had an unusual request which Mark Ingraham welcomed immediately when I called him a couple of weeks before the wedding. I asked if I could sing My Girl at the beginning of the traditional fatherdaughter dance. He loved the idea (or at least he said he did.....he may have secretly wondered if it might be a big mistake). It was also a total surprise for the whole crowd. Only my wife, my other daughter and the band knew that this was going to happen. And it was a huge hit with our friends. They all talked about it being a memory we'll never forget.
So, thank you Dance Candy for making that happen.
Musically, the band's range is broad. As you know, their song list spans decades. And each tune had a sprinkle of the band's own recipe, whether it was a slightly different arrangement, or a clever ad lib, or a a few seconds of individual musical or vocal interpretation.
In short, we loved them! The Blacksburg Country Club loved them, too. Managers said they want to invite Dance Candy to a future event at the club. So I hope they do. I'll be there!

Just to add to what my dad said, we LOVED the band. Much of the evening was a blur for me (as the bride), but one of my favorite moments in the evening was when the band began playing The Thong Song. They did a great job moving from classics to younger songs like that. A friend of mine said a few days ago, out of the blue, I just can't get over how good the band was at your wedding!
They were great!! Please let them know how much we liked them!

I loved Dance Candy's first set of timeless, classic R&B and jazz covers, like Bill Withers to Sade. It made me immediately realize these were sophisticated musicians not afraid to tackle some of the more intricate jazz arrangements. The vocals were so spot on! The crowd they were playing to was mostly of a younger generation, and for a moment I wondered whether the band would be able to kick up the groove to keep this young crowd going. That's when I got the most pleasant shock of all ... the band started the second set from such a different place. It was like a completely different band. They covered Micheal Jackson (the hardest vocal to do well), Bruno Mars, as well as funk and rap classics that had the room of 20somethings and myself (52 years old) dancing the rest of the night. I really was blown away by the musicianship and the amazing variety that I rarely see in one band.

Our guests loved (LOVED!) the band Dance Candy. The dance floor was filled all night – yea! We sent the Groom a list of about 7 bands in January – with no prices attached and I thought you'd appreciate that a 30 yearold's opinion in the selection process that was not based on price but rather on talent. From the mother of the bride perspective, the lead singer accommodated any announcements I asked her to make! And as Drew said – Dance Candy – what a great name for a band! I wish we had videotaped the wedding since it is very much a blur for me!
