Soul Expressions were absolutely fantastic! So many attendees asked me who they were and where they were from. My neighbor has already recommended them to another person who I believe is contracting now. They came in as a Motown band, but could play ANYTHING. Even broke out AC/DC and Bon Jovi! My daughter and I danced to Van Morrison’s My Brown Eyed Girl and they nailed it as well. Couldn’t have been more happy and I would highly recommend Soul Expressions!

First Off: Jan is AMAZING! He arrived and just got right to work and was present ALL night and helped keep the volume at the reasonable level.
Second: The band was FANTASTIC! My residents had the BEST time! I heard nothing but compliments from them all night. They read the crowd and fed off of them! Thank you! We had an amazing experience with Soul Expressions. It all started with Chris hearing them warm upprior to the ceremonyand they had learned the two songs we requested! They actually brought us to tears with those songs. Once the reception started, their music enthralled our guests. They brought so much energy and enthusiasm to our receptionwe danced all night! We loved the talent of the teamamazing musicians and singers. We also loved the way they interacted with us and our guests, moving through the crowd and engaging with everyone. Many of our guests asked us how/where we found them and we even had a few guests buy tickets to their upcoming gigs! They are extreme artists!

Reviews ranged from 5stars to “this is the best party band ever” at the venue!
Soul Expressions Band was fantastic! We would book them again in a heartbeat!
The band was super easy to work with. Wilbur reached out to me a couple of days before the event to get a sense of the party. He totally got that it was a casual, multigenerational, biannual family celebration in the country.
People were ready to start dancing at 6PM, so the band accommodated us and started 90 minutes earlier than originally scheduled. It worked out great.

Soul Expressions did an exceptional job. They were so polished, professional, talented and kind to the family and bride and groom. Our daughter, the bride is in a wheelchair and we really wanted a band that would be entertaining to watch as well as giving music to dance to. Soul Expressions knocked it out of the park! Strolling through the dance floor playing instruments and singing as well as involving the wedding guests. They made our daughter feel very special on her day. Many guests commented on how fantastic they were and wanted to know “Where did you find them?”. People said that they were the best wedding band they had ever heard or seen. We couldn’t be happier with their performance!

There are not enough adjectives to describe how magnificent the band was at Stephanie and Omar's wedding on May 7. EVERYONE raved about the band and people are still talking about how great they were. Nobody stopped dancing!! I have never been to a wedding where so many of the guests danced without a break. At one point I left the dance floor to socialize with the people not dancing, and everyone was dancing!!!
My only complaint is that the band did not allow me to become a member when I suggested it!!!
Please know you exceeded all expectations.

Working with Justin at Sam Hill Entertainment was such a great experience! His knowledge of the bands and what worked the best for our daughter's wedding was so helpful! Soul Expressions was the perfect choice for us! They kept the crowd on their feet and dancing all night! So accommodating to all our requests everyone ranted and raved about how fabulous they were!!!
Soul Expressions.... HOLY MOLY were they fantastic. A good band was hugely important to me, and they more than delivered. I truly did not take a break from dancing until they took a break, and then it was back on my feet until the end of the night. They were an absolute blast, and kept the energy up the entire night. And the song selections were perfect! There wasn’t a dud in the bunch. We’ve heard raves from our guests, including someone who said she hadn’t danced that much in years! Really, they were spectacular. And fun! I want to have another event just to hire them again!

Everything was absolutely perfect with Soul Expressions I think every wedding guest commented on how outstanding they were, and multiple people have asked me since the wedding (including our violinist from the ceremony) who they were because they were that great! Soul Expressions was the perfect band choice for our wedding! We wanted a mix of funk, soul, and Motown music for dancing, and Soul Expressions nailed it. All of our vendors and guests raved about how great they were! It was clear that they were having so much fun performing, and that was infectious as they had almost all of our guests out of their seats and on the dance floor. We hired the band Soul Expressions for our wedding last weekend and they made it such a fun night. On the first song they played, nearly the entire tent of guests rushed to the dance floor. The band was fun, even inviting girls up to dance on the stage for a few songs. Working with them was easy and professional. Every song was fantastic and people could hardly stand to leave the dance floor to get cake. I would definitely use them again.

The band was fantastic. They really molded the show to our liking, removing current pop stuff and the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd and focused on a funky, awesome show. They simply exceeded expectations even though we knew they would put on a great show.

I was hoping to pass along a review for the Soul Expressions Band because we had such an amazing experience with them at our wedding.
My wife and I got married on July 1st at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia and our guests are still talking about the band. They played all of the songs on our request list plus they even learned a few songs for our special day. I’ve had countless people tell us that they’ve never been to a wedding before where literally everyone was on the dance floor for almost 2 hours straight. And when they finished, we had the entire ballroom chanting “1 more song”. It was incredible. Their energy, enthusiasm, and engagement with our wedding guests was absolutely second to none. Our wedding was such a great party and Soul Expressions was the main reason for it. I had never been in the position to hire a band before, but when our daughter became engaged last Fall I needed to do just that. From the first contact with Andy Jaspen at Sam Hill to his followup after the wedding, I appreciated his congeniality, professionalism and accessibility. We were thrilled to be able to book our first choice of bands, Soul Expressions. Andy and his staff at Sam Hill have anticipated all of the questions/concerns their clients are likely to have. Their communications were timely and informative throughout the process from the point of booking until the days just prior to the performance date. Several months out, I was put in direct contact with the band, so that our musical preferences and other details could be communicated. All of the performers in Soul Expressions are wonderful musicians and vocalists. They brought great energy to our reception but also a sensitivity as to mood and the variety of ages present. The result was that everyone in the room was up and dancing at some point. We could not have been more pleased with Sam Hill or Soul Expressions and would be thrilled to work with both again.

While Katie had heard and danced to you guys previously, Thomas had never heard you before but absolutely loved you guys. So many people came up to me during and after the event telling how much they loved you guys. People danced who had never danced before. Y’all are the best to both work with and enjoy during the event.

Soul Expressions was amazing! We were so happy with their performance throughout the night, they kept the dance floor full for hours. Working with their talent agency was a breeze and as the wedding date got closer communication with the the band leader was easy as well. Soul Expressions was the highlight of our wedding. We couldn't have asked for a better band. They played an incredible playlist, had everyone up on their feet from the second dinner ended to the second it was over. they learned two notsocommon songs for our first dance, etc. They were extra accommodating to every request. They also interacted with the guests and made the wedding feel like a concert. They had people on the stage dancing, including several little kids who couldn't get enough stage time. Instead of treating the kid posse like a nuisance, Soul Expressions had them up there dancing like they were part of the band all night. If you want a flexible, fun, outrageously entertaining, and talented band, look no further than Soul Expressions. Also a tremendous value compared to other quotes we received. I actually want to get married again just so I have another reason to hire them.

Soul Expressions was by far the most entertaining and engaging wedding band I've ever seen (and I've been to A LOT of weddings)! They played the perfect assortment of music and really knew how to read the crowd. The dance floor was packed from the first song until the last. One thing they did that was so special and memorable was when they brought me on stage and had me dance and sing a few lyrics with them they had the fan blowing my hair and I felt like a rockstar haha. They brought up so many of my friends and family members to join them in the last few songs, which was SO much fun! Also, they gave the groom's brother a guitar and let him perform with the band. This was the first time his family saw him play, so that was really special for everyone. I would highly recommend Soul Expressions!

My cousin got married in Dec 2015 in Charlottesville, VA and Soul Expressions performed at her reception. After my fiance and I heard them, we knew we had to have them at our wedding! They were willing to travel to NC for a very reasonable fee. The band is so interactive and knows how to get a crowd going and keep them on the dance floor. We even had multiple people start dancing on stage with the band and they rolled with it. We've had so many comments from guests saying the band was their favorite part! Andy Jaspen with Sam Hill Entertainment helped us book the band and was very nice and easy to work with as well.

The Soul Expressions Band was top notch from beginning to end! We were in great need of a band who could provide us all varieties of music since the grooms family is from Puerto Rico. My daughter also wanted the song, Dear Future Husband, sung during her wedding ceremony. They delivered those requests and it was Amazing!
The Sound System crew arrived first to wedding. They made sure everything was up to code and set up correctly. The Soul Expressions Band then arrived shortly after and reached out to us. We went over the last minute details. Wilbert, the band manager, responded to all my emails and phone calls from beginning to end. He did this with kindness, compassion and grace, reassuring me everything will turn out the way I dreamed of for my daughter's wedding. All of the band members made sure our minds were at ease and went out of their way to produce an outstanding night to remember.
As people gathered together for cocktail hour, the music started to softly play. Once the people were seated, the wedding party was announced and the party started. We had people of all ages at the wedding from 1 years old to people in their 80's. Everyone got up on the dance floor with smiles and laughter as they danced the night away. The band was so exiting to watch for those who could not get up. They danced their way onto the dance floor playing their instruments amongst the crowd, had people sing into the microphones, brought people up to sing and dance with them on stage.
My one wish for my daughter's wedding was to have a band who could interact with the crowd and make the evening a memory that would last forever. People came up to us all evening and even the next day with wonderful comments about how much fun they had dancing to the Soul Expression Band. The Venue staff was very impressed and even wanted the Soul Expressions band card information for future weddings. They were impressed how nice each band member was, impressed with their knowledge of electrical power set up and how they were so easy to get along with behind scenes.
I highly recommend the Soul Expression Band! Their professionalism, Love of Music and People will never be forgotten! For this, we are forever grateful!

We’re writing to thank you for your help in finding and booking Soul Expressions for our wedding at The Jefferson in Richmond, VA on October 11, 2015. Its two months later and we’re still getting complements about how great the band was – from all our guests, both young and old. Everyone was blown away by the job they did – the dance floor was packed from start to finish, the song selections kept all of our guests engaged throughout the entire night, and they couldn’t have been a nicer, more professional, or easy group to work with, especially Wilbert.
As a musician in a wedding band for over 15 years myself, I know a lot about what it takes for a successful reception and Soul Expressions delivered it all. From the sax player coming down off the stage to blow solos among the crowd on the dancefloor, to letting a few of our young cousins up on stage to dance and airguitar along with the band – we couldn’t possibly ask for more from a band and truly appreciate the job they did and the way they went about it. I have to also mention that we had requested that the band learn a special song that my parents did their first dance to at their own wedding over 50 years ago. It’s a beautiful song to begin with, but Soul Expression’s version was the best I’ve ever heard – they truly knocked it out of the park and it made for a special moment that stands out for not only me and my family, but all of our guests as well.
I’ve seen dozens of wedding bands over the years, I’ve played hundreds of weddings myself, and I watched probably 50 or 60 different bands’ videos on the web in trying to select a band for my own wedding – I am so thankful to have found Soul Expressions and for the amazing job they did. We will never forget what a great party it was and every time one of our guests tells me the same thing, I know we owe a lot of that to Soul Expressions.
We’d be pleased to serve as a reference for the band – and maybe someday Wilbert will let me sub in with them!

How can I describe how magical the night was?! The Soul Expressions made the night! They were so patient with my family’s request to sing a Fleetwood Mac song. We simply loved them. One of the performers came down into the audience, blowing his sax…this was a perfect moment. They were nice to everyone and did perfect wedding party introductions.
Our guests were unanimous in proclaiming that Soul Expressions made this special event magical. They accommodated all our requests, and to the delight of my twoyearold dancing nephew, allowed him to climb up on stage.
Soul Expressions managed to get almost 200 people on their feet dancing and singing along to Happy. For a few hours, we all were in a room without a roof.

I just wanted to send a quick email to say thank you for all your help in finding us the PERFECT band for our wedding day.
Soul Expressions rocked the HOUSE! Not only are they super talented, but they were so engaging and FUN. When we started planning our wedding last year Logan and I really wanted the reception to be a dance party and boy was it ever. EVERYONE was dancing even my 85 year old Uncle. Our guests are STILL talking about how great the music was and that the band was the best they have ever seen.

During the evening friends would come up and say “that is a great band – so versatile! They can play anything!” 200 of 240 guests crowded onto dance floor – my 85 year old mother danced with grandsons! My 56 year old brother recovering from a brain tumor danced with his daughter and nieces! Everyone from youngest to oldest had a great time.

The Soul Expressions band was fantastic and kept the dance floor packed yet again! The energy was high from the start, and no matter if it was the traditional wedding songs or more contemporary, all ages just kept dancing. They were easy to work with (per usual), gave the crowd what they wanted (per usual), and were flexible with requests and the timeline (both per usual). The mother of the bride already told me that she got the same comments from her guests as I got from mine – “it was the best reception they had ever been to, because they cant remember ever dancing so much!”

I have been meaning to write you for weeks now, and I am so sorry that with the start of the busy spring wedding season, I hadn’t gotten the opportunity until now (I think I honestly have 4 or 5 draft emails to you in my drafts folder)!
Thank you so much for your congratulations! It is amazing and exciting that even after dating for four years, it feels so different to be married – the past month has flown by but we’ve been enjoying fun memories from the big weekend. Most of those incredible memories are due to Soul Expressions and the AMAZING job that they did – I cannot tell you how blown away everyone was, including myself (and I had seen them numerous times before)! The dance floor was packed all night, and they were so accommodating when we needed to make adjustments to the schedule once we arrived later than anticipated. They were professional, fun and played all of our favorite songs – Will and I both continue to receive compliments and inquiries regarding the band, and our favorite compliment from one guest continues to fit the overall feel of the night, “I have been to hundreds of weddings, but have NEVER seen a dance floor packed like this!”
I am SO excited to have Soul Expressions join us out at the JR Clubhouse this Saturday for the Beane Wright reception – Will is jealous that I get to see our wedding band again, and I keep telling Ellen that she should get extra excited – with the amazing time they did on ours, I know her dance floor will be packed too! I just wanted to say that we LOVED Soul Expressions and had a great experience working with you at Sam Hill. From the beginning (when we were trying to pick a Motown/Funk band that played Earth, Wind, & Fire!), you were so thorough and helpful during the selection process pointing out the Pros & Cons of our top 5 bands. Soul Expressions was everything we had hoped for and more! They were tons of fun and really got people into the music. They played all of our favorites (including several special requests like Van Morrison). At one point in the evening, the wedding planner requested them to play a little more Motown ... and they immediately responded!! It was a great testament to their flexibility, style, and ability to go with the flow of the party!

The whole thing was excellent man thanks so much for your part in the weekend. You did a great job on the band suggestions and coordination of it all we couldn't have been happier. Wilbert and Soul Expressions were beyond top notch and exceeded our expectations. It was by far the best money spent the whole weekend, they truly earned every penny. The performance, energy, and flexible nature of the band was second to none. What an amazing band!
Musicianship, professionalism and attention to detail, Soul Expressions possess everything you could expect from a top notch band. They take pride in what they do and their utmost concern is customer satisfaction. Every single member of the band engages with the audience in some shape or form. One minute you find yourself singing with Tyrone and the next dancing with Richard on the dance floor while he is killing it with his saxophone. Eric is great and wants to make sure that your event is as special as it can be. In fact as soon as he figured out that I used to play guitar “20 years ago” he was the one invited me to the stage and jam with the band. What a fantastic experience that was! It really made our wedding reception extra special. And my wife said it was very “sexy” to see me on that stage. Nadia’s vocals are truly wonderful. Certain songs fit her voice so well that you would think she is the original recording artist of that song. Wilbert is a charmer and a true band leader. William the magic man is everything you could hope to find in a lead guitar player and some more. Ricky simply makes playing drums look easy. Sound technicians were superb and very accommodating as well. They allowed us to hook up our laptop to their systems so we could play traditional folkloric dance songs from Turkey during band’s breaks throughout the night. Every single guest at the reception made a point of saying what an amazing band Soul Expressions was, till this day we are still getting inquiries about them.

My apologies for the extreme delay in replying to your email. We've both been busy adjusting to married life and preparing for her daughter's move to DC and the start of the new school year (our schedules revolve around the sports calendar).
The Soul Expressions did a wonderful job creating a truly memorable night (as cliche as it sounds, that's true). The performance of Van Morrison's Someone Like You is one of the most sweet, romantic moments I've enjoyed with Meade. I can't listen to the song without thinking of that performance and our first dance, and even bringing some tears to me (and I don't cry often). After that the band did a fantastic job adjusting to the mood of the celebration and continuing to play into the evening. The music was fun and had people dancing the night away! We've had a high number of people who complemented us on the selection, which means a lot since the night was a blur to me.
I'd highly recommend Soul Expressions to any other relatives or friends at their wedding and am thankful they were able to join us for our special celebration! Thank you for asking our opinion!

Bridget and I are currently in Costa Rica taking in the sun and surf. The Soul Expressions exceeded everyone's expectations! They brought a lot of energy, a tremendous amount of funk, and a terrific setlist. They also nailed our request for the tune Cities and had a lot of nonPhish fans dancing it up.
We also appreciated the fact that SE didn't try to make their performance bigger than the wedding reception. Bridget and I have both been to a ton of weddings and we've seen other bands make spectacles of themselves with kitschy adaptations of songs or shameless (and annoying) plugs. The Soul Expressions didn't do any of that. They were the consummate wedding band!

Soul Expressions made the reception, just amazing entertainment! They had guests dancing nonstop from the first song!! We were worn out. I heard from guests I need to take a break and sit down then another good song would would come up and they would say well this is too good to miss, rest later. So much excitement!! Everyone LOVED the band, Soul Expressions, at the reception! I had alot of people ask me where we found them. We had people on the dance floor the whole night we paid them extra to play a little longer! There were people out there dancing that I was surprised to see on the dance floor. I had people text me the next day that their feet/knees/bunions etc. hurt from dancing all night! I even saw one of our friends out there gatoring...he had a hip replacement several months ago and was obviously good to go! Several of the younger kids thought he had fallen and couldn't get up and had no idea what gatoring was :)
The music was a great mix for my daughter's friends and for our friends as well. The reception would not have been as much fun without the live band. The band seemed to have as much fun as we did. Please tell WIlbert and the band that they were AWESOME!!

The Soul Expressions was incredible! Having only heard and seen their videos, we knew they would be good, but after hearing them in person, we were totally blown away at how great they were. With a super full sound and with each musician being incredibly talented, they crushed every song. They blended older and more contemporary music perfectly it got everyone on their feet and dancing. They worked with us for the first dances, and we're totally cool with letting our college band get up and play a few songs. 110% satisfied and couldn't have hoped for anything better! Definitely hire these guys!

Sorry for the massive delay in getting back to you, we've been swamped with moving etc, but that is in no way a reflection on how great a band Soul Expressions was! It might be best summarized by saying that we all want to find an excuse to throw a party so we can bring in Soul Expressions to play again.
I had a feeling from the reviews and track samples that Soul Expressions would have everyone up dancing, but they managed to surpass my already high expectations with an amazing set of Motown that flowed so seamlessly from one song to the next that no one even thought to leave the dance floor.
As for the music selection, it was as if they read my mind from the one little questionnaire that they sent. Amazing!
Finally, they are truly great musicians that clearly love playing and singing music. They were as tight and talented as any band I've seen, and I look forward to the pleasure of hearing them play again sometime. Soul Expressions did an absolutely wonderful job as our band at our reception! Please let them know that we have received so many compliments from our guests! They did a great job with our first dance songs and then got the crowd right into dancing! The singers were out on the dance floor interacting with the guestsit was so much fun! We enjoyed the variety of musicloved the mix of oldies, just enough modern and slow songs! They kept everyone on the dance floor the whole night! What a talented groupkudos!
I know the lead singer was worried about one of our guests who fell while he was dancing with herplease tell him she is doing well! She did end up breaking her wrist and having surgery last week! She says she'll never hear brickhouse and think of it the same again!
We will be recommending Sam Hill Bands & Soul Expressions for sure to our friends.

What a great party we had and Soul Expressions was the driving force. They were so much fun! Obviously it was a wonderful occasion, the food was terrific as was the venue but the band was exceptional. Soul Expressions was incredible. People think it was our best band we've ever had and were raving about them after. Once person even asked how we fit Cee Lo Green into our budget. They really were great and we loved all the costume changes and everything they did. They had a great progression of motown oldies to new age hits and the dance floor was so crowded the entire night we had to get the Farmington to keep moving tables out of the room. Soul Expressions was fantastic on all fronts our family and friends kept and kept asking us how and where we found such a great band the singers have great voices, the musicians are very skilled and they play an incredible selection of music.
Wilbert Anderson was most helpful to Michael and me in determining how to structure the evening first dance, cake cutting etc and very open to our no play list (our parents are in their 80s so some of the selections would not work for them!).

Soul Expressions was absolutely amazing. In fact, they far exceeded our expectations! They added two members to the band, including a female vocalist, and were absolutely dynamite. We wanted a fun band that would get people of all ages up and dancing. They completely fit the bill and there wasn't a single lull in the entire night.
In addition, Wilbert was very responsive to our requests and even learned two songs for us which made the night special. So many people came up to me and said they were one of the best wedding bands they have ever heard!

We’re back from the wedding and a short honeymoon in western VA. The wedding turned out to be so much better than I had imagined – the complicated stuff got easy, the brutal weather was an afterthought, and the vows were a piece of cake.
I can’t say enough about Soul Expressions. They put on a better show than I have ever seen at a wedding. They were right on time, immaculately dressed, amenable to every suggestion we had, and (most importantly) the music was amazing. Every instrumentalist was a topflight pro, they were well rehearsed and tight, and they did a great job of entertaining the crowd. I’ve played with Wilbert before, and expected him to sound great, but I was amazed at how strong the whole band was. In particular, I love how they moved seamlessly from song to song, which kept people on the dance floor all night. They were great, and a lot of guests (including quite a few musicians) said they were one of the best parts of the weekend.
Likewise, I can’t thank you enough for helping us out, especially in a pinch. I’m especially appreciative that you had the skills to pull a band like that out of your hat after a five minute conversation – affordable, available and worthy. I gave your name and email to a friend who’s getting married next year (she loved the band too). If there other opportunities to send people your way, I’ll do what I can. Thank you for the congratulations and I apologize for the delayed reply. In short Soul Expressions was outstanding. More than a month later, our friends are still commenting on what a greatsounding and entertaining performance it was. In fact, one of our guests is a Charlottesville native who has used many local bands in the past. When asked at the end of the night how much he thought the band cost, he said $10,000.
Honestly, for the price we paid, I was really just expecting five good musicians with a couple of amps which would have been just fine. So it took me by surprise when their sound engineers showed up hours ahead of time to assess the venue and then basically install an entire sound system and lighting. It was indeed a tricky venue. Yet, throughout the performance, the engineers did an excellent job of focusing the most amplification onto a changing dance floor (tables were removed to enlarge it and accommodate an evergrowing amount of dancers) without making dancers' ears ring or
disrupting the conversations of those sitting out on the sidelines.
The musicians themselves were excellent technically and artistically, recreating all songs' original quality while adding their own stylings or touches here and there. They kept the crowd moving from the first song to the last. We also appreciated that they brought just the right amount of showmanship without being overbearing or cheesy. I also must add that, due to the weather, the venue was incredibly warm to be performing (or dancing) in. None the less, the band powered through the night, never flagging in
energy and I believe they might have even skipped a break because of the resultant energy of the crowd.
Wilbert was also incredibly accommodating to our requests and did his utmost to deliver a memorable performance of excellent quality. His laidback demeanor in the runup to the event sometimes had me a little worried but I now chalk that up to me being a detailoriented TV producer and, from what I understand, the band's growing workload.
All in all, a great, great product at a great (maybe too low?) price. Many guests left with the band's business card in their pockets. Thanks again.
