About the Band

Blue Tips Rhythm Revue

The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue started off as a one shot deal.  First assembling to play a set of motown and soul favorites at a mutual friend's wedding, the band and the audience realized something special was going on before the night was over. Soon, united in their love of motown and soul grooves, the four original members added a tight horn section and were on their way to becoming the go-to party band in the region.

The Blue Tips are not your typical variety band -- they don't blend the expected oldies with today's radio hits - instead these guys keep the dance floor packed by breathing new life into classic soul and motown favorites, music that every generation knows and loves. Their charm is due in large part to their relative youth when compared to the style of music they play, and their exuberant live performances reflect both their love of this music and their skill in playing it. The Blue Tips Rhythm Revue is a perfect fit for events ranging from weddings to concerts and beyond.

I want to let you know how amazing they were!! It has been 15 years since I first booked them and I can honestly say they were just as good Saturday night as they have been on the three other occasions! And no one has changed a bit. Elliot is amazing and his energy can't be duplicated. Ben was really easy to work with and he incorporated all of Natalie's requests. Everyone raved about their voices, talent, and energy! We have three other children so they will definitely be our go to band for weddings and other big occasions! Thank you for making it so easy!

It was all great :) They were so friendly, supper easy to work with, and did a fantastic job with the music. I wish our guests had been quicker to dance, but the band brought great energy. The postparty chatter has been all about how great they are. I would definitely use them again!

We had a really great time and got rave reviews about the band from guests. The jazz was a great way to start out the evening, and we loved the renditions of the first dance and parent/child dance songs that we chose. They did a great job announcing our wedding party, keeping things fun and lively, and engaging with the audience to keep things going through any lulls in dancing.

FAQs

Find answers to your questions about our bands and booking process right here.

What is the cost to book a band for an event?

We offer bands for nearly every budget, starting around $2,000 and going up to $15,000+. Most dance bands range between $3,500 and $8,500.

Does a band provide all their instruments and sound equipment?

Bands bring instruments and sound equipment for most weddings and events, covering up to several hundred guests. For larger events, additional sound support can be arranged for a fee or through a vendor you provide.

Do bands provide lighting?

All bands provide basic lighting for their performance area, but this isn’t decor lighting for the whole space. Light stands typically feature a few white or colored LED or par cans. Some bands can adjust lighting to fit the event, or they can skip it if you’re working with a separate lighting vendor.

How long can I expect the band to play?

Special event bands charge a single fee for up to a 4-hour block, including breaks. They’ll play a preset playlist during breaks, scheduled around natural pauses like speeches or cake cutting. For a 4-hour event, bands need at least 45 minutes of break time, usually split into two 20-25 minute breaks. Some bands offer a three-hour no-break option and can add overtime for an extra fee.

How far in advance should I book a band?

Spring and fall Saturday events often book a year or more in advance, with popular dates typically securing bands 8-15 months ahead. Non-Saturday events book closer to the date, and we often help clients with shorter timelines (2-6 months) find great bands. Booking early increases your options for in-demand bands, so reach out soon!
