Biography: Uptown Entertainment Band
Approximately four years ago a group of talented musicians came together to form what is now widely known as the UPTOWN ENTERTAINMENT BAND. The UPTOWN ENTERTAINMENT BAND’s smooth melodic and jazzy sounds originate from the magnificent urban setting of the capital of the South – Atlanta. It was in this 1996 Olympic World City that these musicians/singers came together to create powerful and indelible impressions through their music.
UPTOWN ENTERTAINMENT BAND has been fortunate to receive opportunities to present their music style and spectacular stage presence throughout the Southeast region. The UPTOWN ENTERTAINMENT BAND has performed for such high profile events and organizations as the NAACP, Microsoft Corporation, Georgia Tech, City of Atlanta, Atlanta Montreaux Jazz Festival, NFL (2000 Super Bowl festivities), Charlotte Jazz Festival and more.
The UPTOWN ENTERTAINMENT BAND has broken out of the South with new music that highlights another side of their collective creative giftedness. In their dedication to some of the best smooth melodic and jazzy songs released in 2002 – UEB features the inspired talents of group members Kerwin “the Maestro” Felix (keyboards), North “Tunes” Woodall (lead guitar), Morris “Mo D” Drane (drums), Ron Dover (sax), Victor “Vic-Vic” Choates (bass) and the vocals of Marsha “Lady D” Dupree and Kenneth “KB” Brown.
The musical and performing style of UPTOWN ENTERTAINMENT BAND has been influenced by the Isley Bros, Santana, Chicago, Herbie Hancock, Sarah Vaughn, James Ingram, Earth, Wind, and Fire and others.
The band members hail from various geographical locations around the USA to include Ohio, Illinois, the Carolinas, Tennessee and Georgia. One thread unifies them among all others. The group members met in Atlanta through the church setting. Based on this, spirituality remains a significant part of the band’s overall outlook on success in the exciting world of the music business.
