Biography: Sweetwater

The Sweetwater Band, since its formation in 1990, has played for such acts as Shenandoah, Confederate Railroad, Doug Supernaw, Aaron Tippin, Sammy Kershaw, Davis Daniels, Charlie Daniels, Tracy Byrd, Wade Hayes, Ty Herndon, David Lee Murphy, the legendary Vern Gosdin and most recently, James Otto.
The band, as it is today, has grown to its popularity because of the diverse background in musical interest. The blend of 80’s Rock, Country, Southern Rock, and Blues is expressed in every song this unique band puts together. As you listen to the music you will find yourself wondering how these musicians happened to find themselves in this “country band“. Their song selection includes songs by Lynard Skynard, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Travis Tritt, and Chris Young, to only mention a few.
The band has traveled along the East Coast performing for club crowds as well as private business functions. We are also proud to say that performances in Nashville’s historical Tootsie’s Lounge, The Nashville Palace and the Hall of Fame is amongst some of the credentials of the bands’ lead singers.
The band as it is today is made up of some of the finest in the area and play second to no other in their field. Junior Shifflett, (Bass Guitar/ Lead/ Harmony Vocals), has been playing music since he was very young. Junior has been with Sweetwater for over 10 years and has been a great asset to the group. Bryan Elder, (Lead Guitar/ Lead and Harmony Vocals), has been with Sweetwater for over 5 years and has been playing music since the tender age of 5. Drew Monger, (drums), has been the backbone of Sweetwater for many years and his love for Rock and Motown often show while playing. Although he is often not seen, his talent does not go unrecognized. Jerry Lang, (Piano, and Vocals), is one of the newest members of Sweetwater and a great asset. His credentials are impeccable, they vary from playing the club circuit with well-known local bands to playing as a solo act and most recently, playing the cruise line circuit. He has also seen the road while playing with such artists as Billy Crash Craddock. Bobby Roseberry, (Keyboards), another new member of Sweetwater, is the youngest of the group but when listening to him play you would never know it. He has been playing the club circuit for the past few years and has managed to absorb more than most. Sandra Wanless-Jones, (Harmony and Lead Vocals), is one of the founders and organizers of Sweetwater. She began her singing career in December of 1984 after an appearance at a local benefit. Sandra’s love for all styles of music shows as she steps up to the microphone. Bobby Jones, (Lead and Harmony), is Manager and also one of the founders of Sweetwater. His love for music began while singing Gospel in the local church. His strong vocal capabilities, showmanship and business head is what has made him so well-known and respected amongst his peers.
