We stopped counting the number of compliments we got about The Real Geniuses because there were FAR TOO MANY! This wedding band really showed up and showed OUT. So much fun starttofinish, which is exactly what we wanted. Every song was a banger, and the party didn't stop.
In addition to putting on a great show, The Real Geniuses were extremely easy to work with and accommodating. When we had to adjust their break timing midway through the reception due to the food timing being slower than planned, they said no problem and did what they could to help make our evening seamlessly enjoyable to our guests.
The Real Geniuses are worth every penny. You won't regret signing them for your wedding!

Not only were they amazing people, my husband said that Elena was really easy to work with. I met her for the first time that night and she was so sweet and nice. As all weddings, we had some things that did not go as planned and the worst was we had no real heat at the venue. The Real Geniuses played at the CroppSacripanti wedding last night, and they really made the evening a roaring success for my daughter and her groom. We had attended a wedding 4 years ago where they played, and my husband got their business card on the spot with this day in mind. They did not disappoint.
They had the crowd on the dance floor the entire night (breaks included), fulfilling the couple’s chief ambition that everyone have a blast at their wedding. The 60 somethings enjoyed it just as much as the 20 somethings. We even chose to forego the sparkler exit in favor of one more song with the band.
The band was especially gracious regarding the bride's request (made ahead of time) to surprise the groom by singing. They backed her up beautifully with no rehearsal, and it was a great moment. The night was everything they wanted it to be, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice of band.

I am a college music professor and the majority of our wedding guests were professional musicians. We ALL thought the band was incredible! Jason and the gang were fantastic! We are kind of a crazy crew (understatement) and The Real Geniuses handled it all with friendly, fun professionalism. They could not have been more accommodating even when dealing with my Surface Pro hitch up so we could play Joy to the World for my 82yearold dad who just wanted to dance to it with all his granddaughters.
We would definitely recommend this group/ask for them again!

The Real Geniuses did such a great job! The communication from Jason was proactive and professional but also relaxed, which was great with everything else going on at the same time. They provided us the song list and we selected what we liked (to give him a feel for what we wanted) and they just took it from there. They played from our selections and also played to the crowd. On the day of the reception Jason was very organized but also adjusted on the fly for a few changes/items that we didn't coordinate with him. We received many compliments about the band! In short, we wouldn't want to imagine how our reception would have gone without The Real Geniuses! Money well spent and would absolutely recommend them!

I would like you to know that the Real Geniuses completely rocked it at my wedding. They were so good, I had one friend admit he didn't like bands at weddings at all but this band was really good. Another friend thought the IPod was playing during a break then walked into the ballroom and saw the band playing and couldn't believe how great they were. They played quiet music during dinner and just played so well while we danced. Jason was great to work with, they played all the songs I requested and stayed away from ones I didn't want to hear. The Real Geniuses were an amazing band!! We were so, so happy we chose them because they were absolutely perfect. We can't even tell you how many people came up to us after the wedding and said how great the band was, how their sound was perfect and their song choice kept people on the dance floor the whole night. My mom, unfortunately, was sick at the wedding and even she couldn't keep off the dance floor because they were so great. I had people tell me they waited for a bad song or something to go get a drink and they never could go because each song was better than the last. My dad, a former guitarist and somewhat of a music snob, absolutely loved them, especially their rendition of ACDC. Anyway, those are just a few examples of how great they are. Jason and I also feel like their price is too low for how good they are, we both think you could charge more for them.
We wanted a wedding with lots of booze, food, and dancing and The Real Geniuses made the last part happen, we couldn't be happier.

The Real Geniuses band was a huge hit ! So often it seems people decide on a DJ but a live band is the way to go. Everyone is still talking about how great the band was. We will definitely recommend them.
I only had a little dialogue with the band as the people at Bay Woods handle so many of the affairs during the wedding. But I made sure to thank them and tell them what a wonderful job they did.
The song selection was spot on for this crowd. I could tell how they moved from one genre to another and also at the end of the evening they pumped it up even more to get a good send off. What was funny was the dancing started right after the appetizers ! Even before the salads were served....must have been a good sign.

Apologies for the delayed response we've been traveling since the wedding and I'm just now getting settled back into things. Here's our review of the Real Geniuses:
THEY KICKED ASS!
Wow. Where to start?! These guys (and gal) are incredible. After searching for a band for quite a while, we hired the Real Geniuses to play our wedding in Washington, DC through Sam Hill Bands. This was handsdown the best decision we made at our wedding. Their demo video should give you a pretty good idea of what the Real Geniuses sound like and are capableof. Always the skeptics, and knowing that bands often sound very different in the studio than when performing live, we caught one of their live gigs up in Columbia, MD before deciding to book them. We were blown away they sounded just as good live as they did in their online demos. Dozens of our guests commented on how awesome these guys were at our wedding. They had almost all of our guests up and on the dance floor, even the people who don't normally dance. At the end of the night, we didn't want the party to stop. Our ceremony went a little longer than we had planned, so the band played almost nonstop for the last 2.5 hours of our reception. Best of all, the band totally rocked our request for a special firstdance song. We danced to a slow, acoustic version of Huey Lewis's The Power of Love that the band came up with in the weeks before the wedding. After a couple of minutes, as we had requested, they segued into the full, electric version of the song (yes, from Back to the Future) and we called our guests onto the dance floor. The band was great to work with ahead of our wedding to come up with something special for us. Now I just need to find an excuse to throw another huge party and hire these guys again.

Sorry for such a late response to your email....after the honeymoon it seems to have taken us quite a while to get back in the swing of things! We've been living the dream!
However, I would like to take any and every opportunity to thank and praise The Real Geniuses for a phenomenal performance at our wedding! One reason I had decided on a band over a DJ was because I didn't think we had a dancing crowd and I figured a live show would give people something fun to watch from their chairs. Well, the Geniuses were fun to watch but nobody stayed seated for long! All our guests, from eight year old boys to conservative old ladies, were on the dance floor shaking what their mamas gave them! Seriously, they were not just dancing they were getting down!! I can't even count how many compliments the band got, both for their musical chops and for being sweet, friendly, and accommodating. Jason was very easy to work with and never said no even learning The Jackson Five's I'll Be There for my fatherdaughter dance only one month before the wedding. (They rocked that song, by the way highly suggest they add it to their permanent repertoire!) On the big day, Jason seamlessly emceed introductions, toasts, etc. and even had some funny, friendly banter with some of our more outgoing guests! The music was incredible and they are such spirited performers! All of our old favorites and special requests! I literally could not stop dancing my husband and I skipped several previously planned photo ops to stay on the dance floor. Some of my husbands groomsmen, who had NEVER been spotted dancing before, even at their own weddings, were jamming to Summer of '69 and White Wedding. One of my most heartwarming memories of the wedding was the family of a close friend who had very recently passed away laughing and twirling each other across the dance floor. What a powerful testimony to the joy that The Real Geniuses bring with their music. Of course the biggest testimony was the fact that all of our guests CLAPPED and CHANTED One more song! until the band very graciously played a rousing encore. It felt like the end of a sold out concert rather than a wedding! Doesn't get any better than that.
If there is anything I can do in terms of providing referrals on behalf of The Real Geniuses I will gladly do so. There are many reasons why our wedding was special, and The Real Geniuses are near the top of the list! All my best to them!!

A year ago, we were reviewing bands and we fell upon The Real Geniuses when we were out one night. My now husband and I are 36 you and we really were planning on going with something more Motown a mellow vibe. After listening to one set of The Real Geniuses, we started thinking that this could REALLY be a fun band. We totally changed our concept of the wedding after seeing them. Weddings should be fun and vibrant...not mellow. We were still really nervous to book them as we'd only seen them for 20 minutes total. Much like you, they gave me several people to contact as references. Everyone raved. We booked them and haven't looked back.
Start to finish, the entire process was professional. Do not worry even slightly about their ability to Emcee. I gave them a list with names, agendas, when I wanted announcements made etc. As I didn't have a wedding coordinator, I was very specific. They were right on time with everything. When my Maid of honor told the band we were ready to be announced, Jason first came over to ensure everyone was lined up appropriately . We didn't have a wedding planner and this small extra step, was a surprise and impressed me.
The announcements were perfect, everyone clapped etc. We had the band play all of the typical first dances live (instead of IPO). As the bride, the day is a bit of a blur but there will be surprises and moments that stick with you. After my husband and I were announced and we were dancing (The spy who loved me). We were maybe 45 seconds into it.......when I actually noticed the band for the first time. I thought to myself, That's the band playing..... not a tape. Strange I know, but they had NAILED the song and it took a moment to process that it was live music. It was a great moment.
Everyone danced at this wedding. Everyone. About 70 people on the dance floor, and it was a small dance floor. My 81 year old grandmother was dancing. I have NEVER seen her dance at any function. After the event, our guests called us to rave about the band. The wait staff stopped us to say they had never seen a group have more fun at a wedding at that facility. It was brilliant. Everything went smoothly. I have not one bad thing to say.
I said about two things to the band that night....only because I didn't have to. They got every detail right. We had a fairly small facility and the noise level was perfect. Microphones just appeared any time a guest was giving a speech. Breaks between sets were brief. Also, we'd given strict orders to them about requests and what we didn't want them to play. I had several guests that came to me and stated, the band won't play this song or that...... The Real Geniuses had it all under control. We Loved it.
Since pictures speak louder than words, here are a few photos from that night. Our guests were dancing machines. If you book them, your's will be too. Please Please Please, if you have specific questions do not hesitate to ask. And don't hesitate to book them.

I am pleased to write this letter for one of the bands that you represent, The Real Geniuses, who performed at the Doubletree Charlottesville for a Wedding Reception on the eve of December 19, 2010.
I had the pleasure of working with Jason prior to the wedding and during the reception. The Real Geniuses gave a stellar performance under extreme circumstances, as our area experienced one of the worst snow storms in over a decade. Simply making this statement doesn’t really indicate what the band was up against and feel that you and others need to know the chain events that awaited them on the night of the 19th.
First of all, the wedding doubled in size and outgrew the original space assigned. It is a problem that most hotels love, but unfortunately has a domino effect. Jason was more than accommodating when we had to reduce the size of his band’s performance area. He was always responsive to my emails and calls, and certainly made my job a lot easier. But most of all, he had the foresight to arrive ahead of the storm to make sure that they would be here to perform as contracted, regardless of the conditions outside. Our city virtually came to a standstill, but not inside our hotel. We were at sellout for two nights, with guests waiting in our Lobby for rooms, not to mention, two weddings and a Holiday party that had been booked previously for months and personnel who could not make it in. Perhaps one of the biggest issues that I faced was the couple that the Geniuses would be performing for could not get married in their church and we were challenged with doing our 2nd wedding of the day in less than ideal situations. Just when I thought we had everything under control, the ceremony had to be postponed not, once, not twice, but 3 times as the Groom anxiously awaited in our lobby for his Bride, whom might I mention, was not a runaway Bride, but a stuck in the snow Bride. Now that the Bride had arrived, Jason and his members would soon be able to do what they came to do 2 days earlier and that was to perform for the newlywed couple and their guests. But as fate would have it, we were faced with yet another problem, in that the Bride’s Father was being delayed as he became stuck in route, and yes the ceremony had to be delayed for the fourth time. Where was Jason and his members….. waiting patiently, being flexible and I am sure wondering whether they would ever actual play. But play they did.. they were AMAZING, adapting to the numerous changes to our timeline, showing the upmost in professionalism in every aspect and performing unbelievably for a wedding that many will never forget.
I can without a doubt recommend this group to anyone that may want not only exceptional music for their event, but a group that goes beyond making the client their number one priority. I would welcome the opportunity to work with them again and please relay my heartfelt gratitude to each of them for everything they did while they were with us in Charlottesville. I only hope they arrived safely back home and did not experience any difficulties along the way.

Omigod, I can't say enough good things about the Real Geniuses. Where should I start? They were AWESOME!
They were all truly professional from ensuring the introductions were done correctly to keeping the flow of the evening on schedule. Their ability to modify where needed by playing towards the end of dinner was very much appreciated. It showed they were willing to work with our time schedule.
The best part is the guys rocked the house! Our friends and family can't stop talking about it! People I thought would never dance at our wedding, were the first ones on the dance floor. I've never seen my father dance so much and towards the end of the evening, he admitted that he couldn't go on any longer, not because he didn't love the music, but because he was just plain too tired!!
Highlights of the evening include some of our more colorful friends doing the Milli Vinilli dance to one of your songs and Bob's interpretive dance to We got the Beat to get everyone back on the dance floor after a break.
They are a fantastic band and we would recommend you to anybody we know looking for a good party band. Kudos to you and the Real Geniuses!

I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful the band was but I do know that the dance floor was filled the entire night and that our guests chanted one more song when they were finished. They were so energetic and fun and their vocals were even better than on the videos or CD! Jason was so great to work with and not only learned our first song, but helped me to work out a set list and also looked over the special songs I had planned for their breaks. People would laugh at us when we told them we had booked an 80s band for the wedding so we were shocked when most all of the guests would sing along with the band for all the songs. We had a very formal wedding but they really loosened up the place once dinner was over and the wedding reception wouldn't have been nearly as fantastic without them!
Everyone from our youngest cousins (age 2) to our oldest relatives (at 90) were out dancing to the music and my mom said she hadn't danced that much since high school. The kids even skipped their movie to hang out and dance with the grownups! The evening was a complete blast thanks to them! They would get our highest recommendation to anyone looking for an energetic band with great music!

Thanks for writing about the Real Geniuses we just got back from Europe, so it's a good time to sit down and reflect on the wedding.
John and I thought the band was over the top fantastic! They played perfectly, and were so much fun. We had a ton of people ask us for their name after the wedding. Everyone was dancing and signing along. We could not have asked for better. It was perfect that they played older people music for the first set and then played all of our favorite party hits for the duration of the evening.
We got started a little late with the music because dinner took a bit longer than we had planned, so The Real Geniuses were so nice in not taking a second set break and just playing straight through to the end of the night. Everyone definitely could have kept dancing for at least another hour, so we were sorry that the venue time elasped.
The band was also incredibly helpful in getting a sound system ready for the toasts, etc., which really put my father at ease.
Thank you also for all of your help during the band selection process. I really enjoyed working with you, and I think you really pointed us to a fantastic choice! Thank you so much.

I have to say that the band was amazing! When they were playing, the dance floor was not empty for a second and was full with guests of all ages. Everyone could not stop talking about how they were not your typical wedding band, and that they were great.
Not only did Jason and his group learn the song for our first dance, but they learned a song that Brian wanted to sing to me.....and they sounded amazing doing both! I cannot begin to tell you how much we enjoyed the Real Geniuses at our wedding reception! Although we were searching for an 80's cover band, I was so appreciative that (at our request)they began the night by playing 50's, 60's and 70's songs that got everyone out on the dance floor. Laurie and I were extremely pleased with the performance at our wedding reception on the 6th. I know it took a while before they finally got a chance to showcase their stuff, but when they did, they WERE AWESOME. The guys were superflexible with the delay in starting and, most importantly, sounded incredible. At least three of our guests (that I remember) came up to me and commented on how cool the band was.
Before I forget, I have to tip my hat to Jason for saving me with his copy of the Bette Midler song. Thanks.
We especially liked the rendition of Up Where we Belong, A++ on that one. The evening truly went by in a flash. The Real Geniuses are real pros. We would GLADLY recommend them to anyone else.
