Biography: Mountain Gypsy Project
>>VIEW SONGLIST
Led by Guitarist/Vocalist Curtis Jones, the Mountain Gypsy Project combines a mixture of bluegrass and new acoustic music to create a sound all its own. The band, whose other members include Martin Noorgard on Violin, Joseph Patrick Moore on Bass and Mark Letalien on Drums, came together in the Spring of 2012 after a somewhat impromptu but extremely well-received live show. Realizing the musical chemistry between the four individuals, Curtis (a well-known fixture in the world of bluegrass, having toured and or recorded with some of the biggest names and best artists in the genre, including members of Alison Krauss’ Union Station Band and Blue Highway, and whose groundbreaking composition Lonely Path of Cold, features Multiple Grammy Winner Dan Tyminksi, Alison Brown, Missy Raines, and Shawn Lane) decided that the four should continue down the path of making music together. Needless to say, the other members of the Mountain Gypsy Project agreed!
As of May 2012, the band has started working on their debut album, which they plan on releasing shortly. They have also begun to book shows for the Summer and Fall of this year, and beyond. If you are a fan of bluegrass and new acoustic Music, played with precision and carefully orchestrated, check out Curtis Jones and the Mountain Gypsy Project; You won’t be disappointed!
