Biography: Kinky Spigot & The Welders

Kinky Spigot and the Welders was founded in 2008 when its members – musicians who had known each other for years from playing around New York City – decided to form an event band to perform some of their favorite music: the sweet soul of Otis Redding and Al Green, the masterful Motown pop sound of Marvin Gaye and the Jackson 5, the get-down blues of Aretha Franklin and Bill Withers, and the groundshaking funk of James Brown and Parliament. The idea was this: when you play music you love with top-line musicians, the music will always sound fresh as the day it was written. And that freshness is what makes or breaks a good dance party.
With ten pieces, including a three-man horn section, a rock-solid rhythm section, and three lovely singers, Kinky Spigot and the Welders has the big sound you need for a truly exciting and dynamic event. We work with the best equipment and technicians to bring you music that sounds deep and rich for any space, so you don’t have to worry about hiring a sound company while you are running around planning your event. Although we specialize in classic sounds, we veer into plenty of other territories as well, including pop, rock, and hip-hop, and are happy to work with you to craft a set that fits the specific needs of your event. When you book us for a full-service event, we’ll even learn a special song or two for you by request. We also offer a set of jazz and blues for a cocktail hour or dinner, and complete pro DJ services as well.
