Biography: Gantzer and Groover
>>VIEW SONGLIST
This acoustic duo was formed in January 1990 when the respective bands of Chris Gantzer and Russ Groover disbanded simultaneously. Chris and Russ decided to team together with acoustic guitars and play the “Open Mic” circuit until other opportunities presented themselves. What started as a temporary way to keep playing soon grew to a strong musical relationship that has lasted for over fifteen years.
Gantzer and Groover have performed throughout the Middle Atlantic territory for small bars, clubs, college events, corporate parties, private parties, weddings and birthdays. They have had numerous “house” jobs including a six-year run at TT Reynold’s in Fairfax, VA. Their weekly shows were peppered with crowd pleasing antics and music for all ages.
Because of the diversity in musical style that the group has offered, Gantzer and Groover have been a perfect compliment for different types of crowds and have had the opportunity to perform with other notable local and national players. Among these players were Margo Chapman (Starland Vocal Band) and Fingers Taylor (Jimmy Buffet’s Harmonica Man). Fingers Taylor liked Gantzer and Groover to the point that he joined the group for the last three songs of the set: “A Pirate Looks at 40”, “Son of a Sailor”, and “Why Don’t We Get Drunk”. There were have also been many special guests over the years who would be invited to join the duo onstage for anything from a song to an entire set.
After almost twenty years of performing, Gantzer and Groover works for their clients with diligence, professional attitudes, and respect while providing quality entertainment for any type of event. From background music to “party time," from classic folk/rock to beach music, Gantzer and Groover can cover any situation.
