Biography: Courtney Hollow Band
The COURTNEY HOLLOW Bluegrass BAND formed in September, 2001. The group met while attending local bluegrass jam sessions held regularly throughout Central Virginia and all share a love of bluegrass music traditions. The COURTNEY HOLLOW BAND consists of Bill Collins (guitar, lead and baritone vocals), Troy Gooding (mandolin, tenor and lead vocals), Tom Hogge (banjo, lead and baritone vocals), and James Hyler (upright bass).
When the band first formed, they would often practice at Bill’s house in beautiful Courtney Hollow just outside of Madison, VA. The band achieved quick success and local support, playing at local clubs, benefit shows, and outdoor events and are proud to feature new member Troy Gooding on mandolin and tenor/lead vocals.
The COURTNEY HOLLOW BAND now sounds better than ever, retaining a hard-driving, traditional bluegrass sound with excellent instrumentals and fine vocal harmonies. The Courtney Hollow band still rehearses in Courtney Hollow every week, which is a real inspiration.
