Biography: Billy Caldwell
>>VIEW SONGLIST
A recent transplant from the Green Mountains of Vermont, Uncle Billy (aka Billy Caldwell) has been winning over audiences in and around Charlottesville with his high energy blend of R&B, Americana and acoustic rock.
With punchy Jack Johnson-esqe guitar and bluesy voice that has often been compared to Bruce Springsteen and Warren Haynes, Uncle Billy breathes fresh air into a wide variety of acoustic favorites, leaving the audience feeling as if they were hearing them for the first time. Sporting a vast repertoire of acoustic standards,Uncle Billy performs without a setlist, routinely taking requests from the audience and keeping everyone on their toes.
Onstage, Uncle Billy is constantly in motion. His energy is contagious and he is obviously at ease on stage, whether telling jokes or relating a personal story. Combine that with his sweat drenched, non-stop performances, and you have a show you can write home about.
Uncle Billy got a late start in the music business, joining his first band in Austin, Texas at the ripe old age of 29. Since then, he has washed dishes and operated a backhoe in Colorado, solicited magazine subscriptions and delivered pizzas in New Jersey, banged nails and worked as a chef in Vermont and worked at a summer camp in Louisiana; all while honing his craft as a solo acoustic performer.
Recently, Uncle Billy moved to Virginia to be closer to family and is quickly making a name for himself as a acoustic solo performer in and around the Commonwealth.
